The Time is NOW!

The Week we have all been waiting for is finally upon us. After much speculation as to whether or not it would mean anything, or if it was important, we have found our answer. YES! The biggest game this week and quite possibly the biggest game in the AFC this year happens this weekend. The AFC North Division leading Steelers (10-3) must travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens (9-4).

The Steelers are boasting the top ranked overall defense in the league at the moment. It's a good thing they do. Big Ben and his offense has been......let's say........oh the hell with it, HORRIBLE! If it wasnt for the defense they would probably have at least 3 more losses (Ravens, Cowboys, Chargers) and the Ravens would be looking to clinch the Division. But, alas, this is not so. Besides a few hiccups (Colts, Giants) (Is it a Manning thing? What gives?) the Ravens have been great this year. Many would point to their schedula as indicator of why. I dont see them as having a week schedule. The beat the playoff hopefuls Eagles, Redskins, and Dolphins, pretty handedly while losing essentially on the last play against the Steelers and Titans. Besides the fact that they have the Steelers again this week and at Dallas next week, I would say the had a pretty tough schedule.

The Last time these 2 teams met Rookie running back Rashad Mendenhall said he would rush over 100 yds on a Ravens defense that has not allowed the such in over 2 years. He did get his hundred yards, 5 rushing and the other 95 on the back of the cart as he suffered a season ending injury. But hey, that counts doesnt it? This game will be a slugfest pure an simple. Each defense will lockdown the others offense. I believe the winner of this game will be the team with the most points off turnovers as I see it nearly impossible for either team to just run it down the feild.

PREDICTION - Ravens 16 - Steelers 14 , A Matt Stover FG wins it.

The Time is NOW!

uh huh dasweep...you may want to tell the rookie QB in purple that James Harrison is no longer a Ravens and never was a running back to hand off to.

As far as moving the ball...well...let's see...at least the Steelers know that the game goes for 60 minutes and not 55 minutes, unlike your "other" team.  .

No doubt it's in fun...otherwise we'd be in padded rooms...lol.  And thanks.

The Time is NOW!

Thanks for the reply Mom, maybe if the Steelers played Troy on offense they could move the ball in........ I dont know...... the first 55 minutes of the game! The greatness of their defense is matched solely by the poorness of their offense, but, I guess that makes them a "complete" team right? Your are right though, should be a great one defensively. Oh yeah, one more thing, tell Ben that if a guy wearing a purple jersey catches one of his passes and scores it doesn't count for the Steelers! All in fun though Mom, love your blogs by the way!

Not true...if it hadn't been for the Ravens defense, they may have 1 additional loss.  After all, wasn't it a personal foul on Jarrett Johnson against Hines Ward that gave the Steelers offense momentum?  After all, only 7 points of the 23 points were defensive points, the rest the Steelers offense did manage to score on the Ravens (both teams only had 1 turnover a piece - both returned for touchdowns).  Funny that that horrible offense that you're describing, managed to come back from a 13-3 deficit and take the lead 17-13 at one point.

Guess we could say, if it wasn't for the Ravens defense, the Steelers would have won that game easily...lol.  (Kind of like if the Cowboys defense hadn't stopped the running game, it would have been a different outcome for the Steelers offense).

Seriously, it will be a very good defensive game and hopefully we won't see the slew of injuries that we saw last time.

The Time is NOW!

Well Dasweepa, you left out one of the keys to winning the game - Ed Reed.  He has been brillant the past few weeks.  Just think how Big Ben is going to feel when he throws a long one and Ed Reed comes out of no where to pick it off.  And if he could then score yet another touchdown off an interception, Baltimore will be dancing in the streets!

Our defense can take on the Steelers.  Our offense can score.  Joe Flacco has a great gun.  What I see is that our offensive line has to keep Flacco safe and un-sacked.  If they can do that, the Ravens will win the game, hands down.  On the other side of the line, if we can keep Big Ben in check, get our sacks in (as he has become very sackable) and limit his throwing game, thic will be the best game of this NFL season.

With Ngata (a wise person said they see him with another interception in this game - wouldn't that be great!), Lewis, Washington, Heap, Rice,  McClain, Clayton, the Ravens have so many playmakers.  Topping the list with REED and FLACCO, Cam Cameron and Harbaugh, this is the one game that they have been building up to all season long.

My prediction, Ravens 21 - Steelers 17.

Thanks for your thoughts DaSweepa.  Good luck to your "other" team this weekend.
